Understory

At last. This painting has been in process for nearly a year. It has changed completely many times. The sleepy warm feeling of summer is what guided me.

How interesting to see the differences between the study on Yupo and the oil on canvas. My eye rivets to the oil, to that burnt-red-orange, and the water, more abstracted ("sleepy").

I want to reach out and run my hand over one of those rocks, cool from the rushing water. I feel a definite cool serenity from this but also an energy from the bright jewels of yellow and that red-orange color. I think that says summer :)

ahhh this pool of dreamy water...relaxes me just looking at it. Love the dimensions of it too.

Beautiful as usual. The red orange colour really acts as a visual frame for what lies below. You've captured the serenity and energy in one painting.

I like both the Yupo study and the oil, Randall--like separate stanzas of the same poem.
