A 'daily' painting from my hike in the snow last week in New Mexico.
I think a good vacation makes you excited to return to your life. Mine was that and more.
The tapestry artist and my friend, James Kohler, died unexpectedly in March. I said goodbye at his memorial last Saturday. We met when he was a monk at Christ in the Desert Monastery where he began to weave. Premature deaths such as his are so sad. He was a devoted teacher and his students are truly bereft.
Your study is gorgeous, Randall. It shows so beautifully the inspiration you take from your surroundings.
ReplyDeleteI offer sympathy for the loss of your friend, who is a loss also to all in the artistic community. Koehler brought such beauty into our world, his tapestries a visual poetry.
Love it, so spare and vivid. The space and the feeling… Deep!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your friend; looks like he had a good life. Be well…
What a moving piece. I love the depth of feeling and the simplicity.
ReplyDeleteHaving recently lost a friend myself, I feel your pain. Wishing you peace and comfort.
Your snow study is beautiful. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.
