This was a commission from a hotel that wanted a large version of this tiny 5"x5" painting. I don`t generally accept them but this seemed like an interesting project.
Great painting. I was at a park yesterday with some friends, sitting at the edge of a bit of deep dark shady woods, and at noon a shaft of light shone down, lighting a solitary huge tree in the center of the grove, just like this.
I greatly enjoy your style. I'm also a watercolorist and try to breathe life into landscape scenes. You make terrific use of the Yupo paper and have such wonderful washes with great tones & colors.
The hotel has very good taste.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sam (that's a smart hotel to find you to do this commission)- this has a 'wonderful-mysterious-beauty' to it!
