I don`t do many paintings that have unrecognizable elements.
David Trowbridge and I are collaborating on a couple of pieces for a benefit for the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. I was trying to create something evocative yet neutral for him to respond to. We`re going to trade our paintings back and forth until we get something we like. With this abstraction, I got carried away and think I`ll keep it.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Sitka show :) This is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful and interesting collaboration :) I like this one, too - reminds me of an octopus' garden (remember that Beatles song?)
ReplyDeleteWell, you know how much I like your abstract paintings; so, I think you should get "carried away" more often.
ReplyDeleteI'l put a note about the Sitka benefit in one of my October All Art Friday columns.
Love it. Also like the hard edge of freely painted paper in your collages. I hope to see the Sitka show. I come and paint every year on the Siletz and never get to the Sitka Art Center. Even go and paint at Cascade Head!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you for keeping this just like it is. It's beautiful. It'll be interesting to see what you and David wind up doing. I've calendared the Sitka Invitational; that's a show I seldom miss.
