Oneanta Postcard/work in progress

Nature Inspires Art opens tonight!
Here is a tiny study that I could 'control' and the large landscape I`m still finding my way with. Once again, too much color not enough clarity. Before a painting tips toward resolution, I need to take breaks and come at it again with less attachment and a `cleaner` attitude.

Red Surf

Not a sunset or a statement about the Gulf oil spill. I was just craving red. I also needed a break from the large complicated landscape I`m working on. It sounds melodramatic, but each session with these big pieces is like entering an arena. Most of the time, eventually, I arrive at a resolution and a decent painting. But there is a lot of chaos getting there.

Lacamas Meadows

I thought I`d show the development of this painting.

Coastal Rainforest Study

This is the third study of this grouping of trees. They grew in a dense hollow of alder forest near the Sitka Center on Cascade Head. I`m going to do a large version now.

Into the Shallows

More of Tryon Creek. I`m trying to decide if this is enigmatic or just confusing.
