I love poplars too. I've many really large tulip poplars amongst my pines and oaks. They have a great shape, wonderful leaves, and huge, buttercup-like flowers.Yours are probably a different variety, but the color reminds me of mine in late August. Another great painting.

I just love poplars, in any season. My gardener friends consider it a weed! Mon dieu!
