High Mountain Rivulet

This improvisation became more and more simple. As I eliminated stuff it took on the character of a high altitude stream. I`ve been in the Rockies a few times at 10,000 feet in the summer. Snow melt creates lots of little waterways that cut through the dense meadows. It smells of health and everything living is ready in this short season. Even the air feels alive.

Closer and closer to abstraction, eh?

And yet, as you say, it is so evocative. You take away all the references to scale and you are left with color and composition and - just a livliness.

Quite beautiful. Love that green.
