I don't find this "confusing" at all. The perspective I get is as a close-up look at ground level, and then a looking out toward blue water. I like how the the greenery is defined in the foreground and placed against what our eye takes to be foliage but can't quite make out at and below the surface. I've come to sites like this, where there's a kind of haze and murkiness that the water transforms. The pinkish-brown coloring and other greens seem right to me, too.
yes, really...how about just plain beautiful. I did at first feel I was looking at an underwater view...but it does not matter,,under or over water...it is gorgeous...as well as the last two water postings.
As a visual artist myself I love to look at work that has atmosphere, lets my minds eye provide gestalt and a color palette so absorbing that my feelings are affected. I first came across your work looking through the daily painter's then by following your blog. I find your Oswego Creek, Tyron Creek, Oneanta Gorge series to have all of those captivating qualities I love and I truly hope some day to see your work in person. I looked back through your images to see what was different or possibly what you saw as either confusing or enigmatic. For me, there is a visual balance that runs through your work, front to back, top to bottom, inside to outside, spiraling, spatial, a rhythm that moves effortlessly. Could possibly your choice be found here? I look forward to seeing more of your work…
How about "mysterious" :) I am following your paintings for a while and love the mix of abstraction with concrete forms. This harmonious blend, infused with your lush colors, suggests a mood and nudges the viewer kindly into a certain direction (trees, water, landscape, etc.) but leaves enough room for one's own imagination. In this particular painting I see a whole underwater world/town/kingdom that I would be curious to explore. Beautiful work all around.

I agree with all the other comments, my reaction was WOW, it has a feeling of mystery.

I like it... it glows.
Couldn't it be both? That would explain why it's such an interesting painting. I could live with it for sure. How much is it?
Randall,
Your works are stunningly exciting. Lots of exploration. Wonderful color sense. Thanks so very much.
