Seeing this, I went back to look again at your other alders. I am struck by how each one is so distinct, holds its own vision, and shows off its colors with an often startling effect, sometimes ethereal, sometimes rather eerie. With this one, I feel as though I'm watching a film being peeled or ripped back and away. I have not seen another painter use greens and yellows, pinks and blues as you do. And your reds are something else entirely.
That's a thoughtful and hard comment to follow, Maureen! This painting makes me remember my Mendocino farm and trhe smell of alder branches on the fire.
