Refuge Autumn Study

Painted from memory last night. I`ve wandered around Minto Brown Island enough to recall the mood this time of year. More often than not, it`s helpful to begin on a tinted ground. Values fall into place.

Tryon Creek Study 1

I`ve come to think of summer as the ideal time to watch moving water. With all the trees leafed out, many areas I like to paint are now just a wall of green. So I turn to the creeks.
In August, I`ll be participating in The Friends of Tryon Creek`s fundraiser 'Nature Inspires Art'.

Arboretum Marsh

Last week I wanted to complete something big before leaving for my residency. Now as it is rapidly approaching, I`ve just wanted to keep working. Keep in shape so to speak. I feel like I`m training for something important, something ambitious.
We went to Seattle last weekend to retrieve a painting and had a chance to visit the University`s arboretum. It`s a beautiful collection. I was able to do this quick study from memory.
