This painting has a trompe l"oeill effect, from the way the cloud massings are reflected. It's as though a part of them has been rubbed clear on glass to reveal a vision of an island set back deep into the canvas. Very cool effect.
I like seeing the brush-stroking (rain) in the clouds, too.

I think the effect you have created really is like the season here in Oregon.
