Refuge Autumn Study

Painted from memory last night. I`ve wandered around Minto Brown Island enough to recall the mood this time of year. More often than not, it`s helpful to begin on a tinted ground. Values fall into place.

This is so evocative. I really like the tree in the background -
So sorry I missed your show (been ill, in recovery) Maybe I can get over there for the next event.

Amongst so many, there's something admirable in your painting (and so difficult to express in english for a french speaker): the way your gesture seems a natural fruit of landscape. There's accident, hazard, illumination, stain, spot… in your strokes, as if the painting was just dripping out of the nature on the surface – though we all know how difficult it is to master this… Oh my, this tree in the background!
